Wales family 2022 Christmas card photo – what Kate wore

Kensington Palace today released a new Christmas card image of the Wells family.

“The Prince and Princess of Wales are delighted to share a new photo of their family,” the accompanying message read. The picture was taken in Norfolk earlier this year, probably from the look of the leaves in summer. The photo was shot by Matt Porteous, who took the photos used for the 2020 and 2018 holiday cards and other notable events for the family.

King Charles III and Camilla, the Queen Consort, shared their 2022 Christmas card earlier this week. The film was shot by Sameer Hussain at the Brimar Games in September.

View Cambridge/Wales annual family photos now. In 2021, Cambridge posed during a holiday in Jordan. The Duchess of Cambridge wore a dress from Seaside NY.

Below, a 2020 photo of Mr Porteous, taken at Anmar Hall, the family’s country estate.

In 2019, the Duchess took the photo used for the card.

A more official image was used in 2019. The photo was not released by Kensington Palace but was posted on social media by a person who received the card.

One of my favorites is Mr. Porteous’s 2018 photo, showing a relaxed Cambridge family in Anmar Hall. The Duchess wore her Fjällräven Övik re-wool style sweater and gingham checked shirt.

A formal posed photo was used for the 2017 holiday cards. It was taken by Getty’s royal photographer Chris Jackson. The Duchess wore a Catherine Walker suit first seen during her solo 2016 trip to the Netherlands.

For their 2016 Christmas card, as well as a thank you note, the family used a photo from a children’s party held during their 2016 visit to Canada. In that photo, the Duchess wore a C by Chloé dress.

The family first released an official photo for Christmas in 2015, sharing a photo with a very young Princess Charlotte and older brother Prince George, taken by Chris Jelf at Kensington Palace. I don’t believe we have definitively identified the shirt or sweater seen in this photo

During the 2014 holiday season, the family released a series of photos showing a happy-looking Prince George on the steps of Kensington Palace. They were escorted by Edward Lane Fox, Prince Harry’s former private secretary.

Now to see what Kate wears in the new photos. She brought back a piece she first wore in May 2019 (photographed by Matt Porteous) during her Back to Nature garden unveiling at the Chelsea Flower Show.

We saw the shirt again during the June 2020 Zoom call during the UK’s annual Volunteer Week.

The Mabel shirt by MIH Jeans is made from a lightweight cotton broderie anglaise with a floral motif. It features a button front, puff sleeves and scalloped trim on the cuffs, hem and neckline.

I can’t tell from the photos exactly which jeans the duchess is wearing, but we can see she has Superga Cotu Classic Sneakers ($51.78 at Zappos, $65 at Nordstrom). The style is only $19.99 at Superga, but they have a few sizes available. A shopping note: Superga has its entire site featuring $19.99 as of tonight.

I’ll be visiting on Thursday when the Princess of Wales hosts the second annual Christmas Carol Service at Westminster Abbey.
